Sub: Syllabus for selection from Group ‘C’ to Group ‘B’ posts in the Traffic (Transportation and Commercial) Department of Railways.
Ref: Railway Board’s letter No.E(GP)79/2/30/2, dated 16.01.1981.

 

1. A revised syllabus for Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion from Group ‘C’ to Group ‘B’ posts in Traffic (Transportation and Commercial) Department of Railways is enclosed herewith for guidance. The revised syllabus may be given wide publicity and circulated amongst the eligible candidates
2. The revised syllabus will be effective from the date of issue of this letter. However, selections which are under process at an advanced stage need not be disturbed.

Sub: Selection for promotion from Group ‘C’ to Group ‘B’ posts in Mechanical Engineering Department and Transportation (Traffic and Commercial) Department.

1. in terms of instructions issued under Railway board’s letter dated 19 8 1981 and letter dated 25 11983 selection 70% selection and 30% LDC for promotion to group B posts in mechanical engineering department and transportation traffic and commercial department respectively are being done separately for each stream
2. The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided by the boat that combine the selection 70% selection and 30% LDC may be held for filling up group B vacancies in the different streams of mechanical engineering department and transportation traffic and commercial department
3. in conducting selection as per revised instruction while it it would be necessary to test the knowledge of the candidates on topics related to all the states through compulsory questions sample choice shall be given to the candidates with questions from the topics relating to each stream
4. Group D selection 70% selections and 30% LDC which have already been initiated from the next selection onwards.

Syllabus for LDCE – Promotion to Group ‘B’ post in the Traffic (Transportation and Commercial Department)

A. Traffic (Transportation):

PAPER-I:

(I) GENERAL:-
Hierarchical set up and the line of control of Operating Department at the Divisional/ Zonal and Railway Board level.
(II) Traffic, Train and Power Control Organization:-
Objective and setup of control offices,
Functions of control organization pertaining to Train Ordering, Punctuality, Maintenance of Operating Statistics, Wagon & Loco Stock Management, Blocks (Engg., TRD, etc) Management, Management during Accident and Unusual Situations/ Circumstances and Disaster Management,
Duties and responsibilities of Chief Controllers, Dy. Chief Controllers, Section Controllers, TNCs, Recorders and their Co-ordination with lobbies, Station and yards,
Foreign Train Operations (FTO) and Freight Train Ordering Principles with or without co-ordination with Crew Lobbies,
