RBE No. 99/1999: Upper Age Limit for Direct Recruitment – Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ Categories

Sub: Upper age limit for direct recruitment to Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ categories on the Railways.

1. Attention is invited to Board’s letter of even number dated 01.01.1998 (RBE No. 01/1998) read with letters of even numbers dated 15.07.1994 (RBE No. 57/1994), 04.08.1995 (RBE No. 86/1995) and 12.09.1997 (RBE No. 88/1997) raising the upper age limit by 5 years for notifications to be issued for direct recruitment to all Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ categories including and engagement of Casual Labour (since discontinued) and Substitutes on the Railways for a period up to 03.08.2000.
2. The matter has further been reviewed by the Board pursuant to revision of upper age limit for direct recruitment to Central Civil Services and Civil Posts as notified under Department of Personnel and Training’s Notification Number 15012/6/98-Estt(D), dated 12.12.1998.
2.1 It has now been decided that the prescribed age limit for recruitment to all Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ categories including engagement of substitutes as specified under the relevant orders of the Board, may be raised by two years on a regular basis w.e.f. 01.06.1999. The present age relaxation of 5 years as admissible in terms of Board’s letter dated 01.01.1998 (RBE No. 01/1998) mentioned in para 1 above, which is available upto 03.08.2000 will, also simultaneously, stand reduced to 3 years, w.e.f. 01.06.1999.
