RBE No. 174/2000: General Selection – Procedure – ACS No. 111 to Para 219 of IREM

Sub: Procedure for filling up “Selection” and “General Selection” posts.
1. In terms of para 219(i) and 219(j((iii) of IREM Vol-I (1989 Edition), as modified under ACS No.66 forwarded under Board’s letter No.E(NG)I/98/PM1/11, dated 16.11.1998 (RBE No. 263/1998), for the purpose of formation of panels for filling up Selection and General Selection posts respectively, candidates securing a total of more than 80% marks are to be classed as “Outstanding”.
2. The Board have reviewed the matter and it has now been decided that, for the purpose of formation of panels for filling up Selection and General Selection posts, candidates securing 80% or more marks should be classed as outstanding.
3. The Indian Railway Establishment Manual may also be amended as in the Advance Correction Slip No.111 enclosed.

Chapter-II, Section B – Rules governing promotion of Group ‘C’ staff:-
In para 219:
(i) For the existing words and figures “more than 80% marks” appearing in sub-para (i) substitute the words and figures “80% for more marks”.
(ii) For the existing words and figures “more than 80% marks” appearing in sub-para (j)(iii) substitute words and figures “80% for more marks”.
