1. Attention is invited to the extant instructions contained in the Board’s letters referred to above and other instructions issued from time to time inter alia stipulating that selections should be held at regular intervals and that a calendar should be maintained for conducting selection/ suitability/ trade test. Timely holding of selection/ suitability/ trade tests obviates the need to make stop-gap arrangement involving promotion of staff on ad-hoc basis.
2. One of the recommendations of the ‘PREM’ Core group of Railway Safety accepted by the Board is that the safety related vacancies should be filled up expeditiously. It is accordingly reiterated that the instructions for filling up vacancies in regular manner and in time especially in safety categories should be strictly implemented and information in this regard included in a separate Annexure to the CPO’s monthly PCDO.
