Dress Regulations: RBE No.32/1986 – Uniforms to Railway staff

Sub: Uniforms to Railway staff – Revision of Dress Regulations.
1. In continuation of instructions Contained in their letter No.E(W)82-UN 1-2, dated 07.05.1985 (Circular letter No.11) Department of Railways desire to make changes in the Dress Regulations as under:-
(1) Station Superintendents (Gazetted):
Summer Uniform: White terrycot suit with gold braid arm bands, white peak cap, maroon tie with I.R. emblem and name plate (SSs in senior scale should have 4 lines and SSs in Jr.Scale/ Class-II should have two lines on the arm bands. The peak cap should have a red band with an I.R. metal badge).
Winter Uniform: Navy blue serge suit with gold braid arm bands, navy blue peak Cap, maroon tie with I.R. emblem and name plate (SSs in senior scale should have 4 lines and SSs Jr.scale/ Class-II should have two lines on the arm bands, the navy blue peak Cap should have a red band with an I.R. metal badge).
Note: (a) Cap should have Indian Railway Crest.
(b) Tie should have Indian Railway Crest.
(c) Top and bottom pockets; To have golden line on both Summer and Winter Uniforms.
(2) Station Superintendents (non-Gazetted)/ Station Masters/ Assistant Station Masters:
Summer: White Safari suit with tennis collar with dark green slipon epaulettes with metal shoulder titles and name plate. The upper garment of the Safari suit should be provided with two patch pockets and should be without a back strap.
Winter: Navy blue serge suit with epaulettes and name plate. The coat should have three pockets, Maroon tie With I.R. emblem.
Note: (a) Although shoes have not been laid down as part of the uniform, it is desired that black shoes should be purchased at the employees own expense and worn with the uniform.
(b) Top pockets should have flaps.
(3) Travelling Ticket Examiners/ Ticket Collectors:
Summer Uniform: White Safari suit with tennis collar with dark green slip-on epaulettes and I.R. metal title, name plate with number. The upper garment of the Safari suit should be provided with 4 patch pockets with flaps and should be without a back strap.
Winter Uniform: Navy blue serge suit with name plate and number. The coat should be provided with 4 pockets with flaps. Epaulettes with I.R. shoulder titles should also be provided.
Note: The scale for supply of uniform to TTEs/TCs for the summer uniform should be two suits in the first year and thereafter one suit per year. In the regions where there is no winter, the summer uniform should be repeated in winter.
2. Department of Railways (Railway Board), further desire that the Dress Regulations as revised above, may be adopted as soon as possible, subject to exhausting the material already available.
3. For N.Rly. only – Specimen of the uniforms as per style and design quoted above for the aforesaid categories will be prepared by the Northern Railway and sent to other Railways for their guidance and procurement.
