Special Pay: RBE No.122/1986 – To Radiographers doing ECG Work

Sub: Grant of special pay to Radiographers doing ECG work on the Railway Hospitals.

In terms of Board’s letter No.E(P&A)I-81/SP-1/MH-1, dated 15.09.1984 on the above subject, special pay of Rs.30 p.m. to Radiographers in one of the Railway Hospitals of the Production Units was sanctioned as the Radiographers had been entrusted with the duties of taking ECGs or operating ECG machines. Information has also been called for if a similar dispensation could be extended to the Radiographers working in other Railway Hospitals.

Board have examined the matter of grant of special pay to Radiographers carefully and have decided that the instructions contained in Board’s letter referred to above should be cancelled. In other words, wherever special pay is being paid to Radiographers at the rate of Rs.30 p.m. for taking ECGs or operating ECG machines such special pay should be stopped forthwith, in view of the instructions contained in Board’s letter No.85/H/16/25, dated 21.02.1986, restricting the duties of Radiographers as notified by the Board.

This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Department of Railways.
