Sub: Initial training period for incumbents selected against General Departmental Competitive Examination.

The question of prescribing duration of initial training period for persons selected under the scheme of the GDCE has been under the consideration of the Ministry of Railways for some time now.
It has now been decided that the duration of initial training period for person selected under the scheme of GDCE should be the same as prescribed for persons recruited from the open market i.e. direct recruits.
This will apply to all categories included in the scheme of GDCE and where initial training has been prescribed.
This also disposes of Southern Railway’s letter No.P(S)268/TX/ST/Vol.2, dated 01.07.1998.
