RBE No. 36/2006: Asstt. Loco Pilot

Sub: Lateral induction of skilled artisans Gr. III in the posts of Asstt. Loco Pilot (Diesel/ Elect.).

1.     As the Railways are aware the educational qualification of course completed Act Apprenticeship pass in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronics Engg. trade or Matriculation with ITI as an additional preferable qualification in these trades has been laid down for induction of skilled artisans & Group ‘D’ staff fulfilling the conditions of service & age against 50% promotion quota in the posts of Asstt. Loco Pilot (Diesel/ Elect.).

2.     NFIR has brought to Board’s notice that on some of the Zonal Railways persons appointed as skilled artisans on compassionate grounds with the qualification of Matriculation but not in possession of ITI qualification, are not being considered eligible for lateral induction as Asstt. Loco Pilot (Diesel/ Elect.) against 50% quota. It is clarified that since Matriculation has been prescribed as one of the educational qualifications for induction as Asstt. Loco Pilot (Diesel/ Elect.), the  qualification of ITI being only an additional preferable qualification, the Matriculate staff having the qualification of Matriculation but not ITI are also eligible to appear in the selection for induction as Asstt. Loco Pilot (Diesel/ Elect.) against 50% quota.
