RBE No. 226/1987: Welfare Inspector – Qualification for

Sub: Eligibility for promotion to the post of Welfare Inspector in scale Rs.425-640/ 1400-2300.

1. Please refer to Board’s letter of even number dated 18.06.1987 (RBE No. 155/1987), on the above subject wherein it was decided that Diploma in Labour Laws may be considered equivalent to Diploma in Labour Welfare/ Social Welfare for the purpose of eligibility of staff for promotion to the post of Welfare Inspector in scale Rs.1400-2300. Arising out of a reference from one of the Railways, the Board have considered the question whether Railway employees possessing LLB degree should be made eligible to appear in the selection for promotion to the post of Welfare Inspector in scale Rs.1400-2300. The matter has been considered carefully by the Board and it has been decided that the Railway employees who have passed LLB examination with paper(s) in Labour Laws would also be eligible for consideration for promotion to the post of Welfare Inspector in scale Rs.1400-2300 in the same manner as employees possessing Diploma in Social Welfare/ Labour Welfare.
