Quilandy: RBE No.182/2000 – Classification of City for House Rent Allowance

Sub: Upgradation of Quilandy (MC) as ‘C’ class city for the purpose of HRA.

1.     Reference is invited to Board’s letter No.E(P&A)II/90/HRA/CCA-18, dated 19.07.1993 (RBE No.109/1993) regarding re-classification/ upgradation of cities/ towns on the basis of 1991 census for the purpose of grant of HRA/CCA to Railway employees. Consequent upon reconstitution of Quilandy Panchayat into a Municipality by the State Government of Kerala vide their Notification No. G.O.(MS)) No.75/93/LAD, dated 31.03.1993 and the population in the Quilandy (MC) area as per 1991 census being 57797, this city has qualified for classification as a ‘C’ class city/ town for the purpose of House Rent Allowance.

2.     The President is accordingly pleased to decide that Quilandy shall stand classified as ‘C’ class city/ town for the purpose of grant of House Rent Allowance to Railway employees posted in Quilandy (MC).

3.     These orders shall take effect from 01.04.1993.

4.     This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
