Casual Leave: RBE No.70/2004 – Reduction in CL entitlement

Sub: Casual Leave.

Reference Board’s letter No.E(G)98 LE1/1, dated 20.02.1998 (RBE No.44/1998) providing inter-alia that the entitlement of Casual Leave of certain category of Railway staff who were entitled to 15 days Casual Leave in a calendar year would stand reduced to 11 days w.e.f. 01.01.1998.

Instructions were thereafter issued vide letter of same number dated 18.01.1999 (RBE No.09/1999) to the effect that the entitlement of Casual Leave of the aforesaid categories of Railway staff would stand reduced to 10 days. These instructions (i.e. dated 18.01.1999) were ordered to be held in abeyance till further orders vide letter of the same number dated 28.01.1999.

The matter has since been deliberated upon with the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel and Training, and it has been decided to restore the instructions contained in Board’s letter dated 18.01.1999 ibid providing for grant of 10 days casual leave, in a calendar year to the employees who were earlier entitled to 15 days casual leave, effective from the current calendar year.
