Sub: Re-organisation of Accounts Department on-the Railways.

1. Reference Department of Railways’ letter No.PC-III/78/UPG/8, dated 16.05.1980, PC-III/80/UPG/14, dated 22.10.1982 and PC-III/80 UPG 14, dated 03.02.1983.

In the PNM/AIRF meeting held on 11/12 and 12.12.1985 a point was raised by the Federation that in view of a large number of vacancies of Clerks Grade-I Rs.330-560 in the Accounts Department and the availability of a number of Clerks Grade-II Rs.260-400 who had qualified in Appendix-2 IREM examination and were awaiting promotion, the posts earmarked for direct recruitment quota should be given to Clerks Grade-II who had qualified in Appendix-2 IREM examination.

2. The Department of Railways have decided, purely as a one-time exception, that the vacancies of Clerks Grade-I Rs.330-560 may be filled by qualified Appendix-2 IREM candidates available for promotion to the extent of 33-1/3% of the direct recruitment quota as on 01.12.1985 or the number of qualified candidates available on that date whichever is lower. The benefit of fixation should be given uniformly to the promoted candidates from 01.12.1985.
