RBE No. 109/2019: GDCE – General Departmental Competitive Examination – Action plan for 100 days

Sub: General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) – Reiteration of instructions – Action plan for 100 days.

1. Attention is invited to Board’s letter of even number dated 10.05.2019 (RBE No. 78/2019) on the above subject vide which keeping in view the large scale direct recruitment in non-gazetted categories which is now underway through RRB notification, it was reiterated that the Railway may make use of the provision of GDCE to fill up 25% to 50% direct recruitment quota vacancies so that highly qualified and meritorious staff now available in the lower grades may avail the scheme to fast track their career. One time dispensation for GDCE for Sr. Clerk was also recorded by this latter.
2. Filling up of vacancies through GDCE is one of the items included in the ‘Action Plan for 100 days’ for Personnel Department. Railway may therefore take urgent steps to for filling up the GDCE quota vacancies as due, on priority. Fortnightly report of the action taken/ progress in the matter may be sent to Board’s office, starting with position as on 30th June, 2019 in the following format:-

(a) Number of GDCEs due for conduct with number of vacancies earmarked,
(b) Number of GDCEs notified with status against each,
(c) Number of GDCEs yet to be notified and target dates,
(d) Remarks.

3. It may be insured that in all cases where GDCE is presently due, issue of notification and fixing of schedule of the written examination is done by August, 2019. Completion report confirming that there is no spillover beyond 31.08.2019 in this regard may be sent in due course.
