Railway enquiry committee, 1978 has recommended that encouragement should be given to all Officers and Supervisor to take up membership of Technical and professional institutions in the country as well as abroad and membership fee will be reimbursed.
The said recommendations have been accepted by Railway Board. The facility of 90% reimbursement of membership fee for professional institutes, has been under continuous review by the Railway Board. Supervisors have also been brought under the ambit of the scheme with the objective of creating better human resource by way of increasing self learning and development.
Board wide the above referred letters have specified eligibility, terms and conditions for Railway officials for the purpose of taking membership and availing reimbursement to the tune of 90% of the membership fee.
Clarifications have been sought as to whether the Officers and Supervisors who have taken membership of professional institutions at the fag end of their career can avail reimbursement of membership fee as the same is available to Railway employees in service, so as to enhance their professional/technical abilities for the benefit of the Railways.
The issue has been considered by the Board and it has been decided that no claim for reimbursement of membership whether for new or renewal shall be allowed if the claim pertains to the last year of service of the official.
