Typists: RBE No.70/1986 – Educational Qualification
No.E(NG)II/86 RR1/3, dated 18.04.1986
Sub: Educational qualification for the post of Typists in grade Rs.260-400 (RS).
1. The question as to whether for recruitment of Typists on Railways, the stipulation of minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in Matriculation or its equivalent examination should apply, has been under the consideration of this Department. This subject was also discussed in the conference of Chairmen of Railway Recruitment Boards held in New Delhi on 16.01.1986. After due consideration of the matter, it has now been decided that the minimum qualification for recruitment to the post of Typists in grade Rs.260-400 (RS) should be matriculation or its equivalent with minimum of 40% (forty per cent) marks in the aggregate.
2. The minimum percentage of 40% marks will not apply to those candidates who possess qualifications higher than matriculation. In the case or SC/ST candidates, ex-servicemen, sportsmen and the physically handicapped the minimum educational qualifications would be a pass in matriculation. However, the standard of proficiency in typing continues to be 40 w.p.m.
3. The above will apply to all future recruitment of typists including the cases where Railways have placed indents on Railway Recruitment Boards, but the Railway Recruitment Boards are still to issue the Employment Notice.
