Traffic Costing Inspectors: RBE No.332/1985 – Filling up the Posts

Sub: Filling up the posts of Sr. Supervisors (Traffic Costing Inspectors) in the Traffic Costing Cell – Qualification, etc.
1. Reference this Department’s letter No.E(NG)I-73-PM 1-245, dated 19.11.1975 laying down the qualification for the posts of Sr. Supervisors (Traffic Costing Inspectors) in the Traffic Costing Cell.
2. In pursuance of recommendation of the Railway Convention Committee (1980) to the effect that the Costing Cells should be manned by costing experts, the Department of Railways have decided that the qualifications prescribed in their letter dated 19.11.1975 for the posts of Sr. Supervisors (Traffic Costing Inspectors) in the Traffic Costing Cells should be modified as follows:
“University degree with Mathematics, Statistics or Economics as one of the subjects, studied. Preference will be given to those who are having professional qualifications in Cost Accountancy.”
3.1 It has been further decided that the distribution of posts in the traffic costing cell amongst various departments should be revised as under:

3.2 The revised distribution of posts amongst various departments as indicated above will be subject to the condition that in case qualified staff are not available from a particular department, the vacancies may be filled by qualified staff of the other specified departments. In the event of qualified staff not being available from any of the four specified departments, there would be no objection to draw qualified and suitable staff from other Railways on voluntary basis. The qualified staff from other Railways may be appointed as Traffic Costing Inspector on ex-cadre tenure basis for a period not exceeding 5 years.
