No.E(NG)II 84/RC 2/39, dated 24.02.1986

Sub:   Cadre of Technical Supervisors – Direct recruitment of Engineering graduates in scale Rs.700-900 (Rs.).

1.     In para 3 of Ministry of Railways letter of even number dated 20.03.1985 (RBE No.85/1985) on the above noted subject it has been laid down that for recruitment of Engineering graduates against vacancies in scale Rs.700-900 (RS) notified upto 31st Dee., 1987, relaxation in upper age limit for serving railway employees for induction against direct recruitment quota of 20% of vacancies in grade Rs.700-900 (RS) will be forty five years instead of thirty five years as provided in Board’s letter No.E(NG)I/73/PM 1/315 dated 20.11.76.

2.     One of the conditions to be eligible for age relaxation is that a railway servant should have completed three years railway service. In the Departmental Council of the JCM, the staff side had tabled a demand for abolishing direct recruitment of Engineering Graduates in scale Rs.700-900. In the meeting of the Departmental Council held on 17/18.09.1985 the Board expressed their inability to accept this demand. However, pursuant to discussion in the said Departmental Council Meeting, removal of the condition of three years service in relaxation to serving engineering graduates, who may apply for direct recruitment vacancies in grade Rs.700-900 (RS) for a limited period i.e. upto 31.12.1987, has been under consideration of the Board. It has since been decided that all serving engineering graduate employees in Railway service irrespective of the length of service put in by them in Railways will be eligible for relaxation of upper age limit upto forty five years for direct recruitment quota in grade Rs.700-900 (RS) against vacancies notified upto December, 1981.
