Sub: Procedure for filling up selection posts – Non-gazetted.

1. Reference orders contained in Board’s letter No.E(NG)57/PM1/24, dated 08.10.1958 for detailing procedure in regard to Constitution and functioning of Selection Boards for filling non-gazetted selection posts on the Railways. The Board have reviewed the matter and decided that:-

(i) The responsibility for selection will be collective on all members of the Selection Board.
(ii) An officer of the concerned department of appropriate rank must be authorised to set the question paper for the written rest. Where possible another officer should be nominated to evaluate the answer books for determining the professional ability of the candidates called for selection.
(iii) Moderation by way of awarding grace marks to candidate shall not be resorted to without the authority of the Selection Board.

2. Necessary modification in the existing orders laying down the procedure for filling up non-gazetted selection posts may be made accordingly.
