Sub: Safety and Other Safety Categories – Revision of list – Format.
Please refer this office letter of even no. dated 12.05.2017 through which information on “Other Safety Categories” was asked from Railways/ PUs. Data sent by the Railways/ PUs, reveals that the list of “Other Safety Categories” contains many categories which are not covered in the list of “Other Safety Categories”. In some cases, number of such staff shown under “Other Safety Categories” is as high as 15-20% of the total strength shown in “Safety Categories”.
Meanwhile, the Railway Board vide letter No.E(NG)I-2010/PM1/19, dated 18.10.2017 (RBE No.152/2017) has included some more categories into safety categories. It is, therefore, necessary to reorganize the “Safety Categories” and “Other Safety Categories”. The revised lists are enclosed as Annexure-I and Annexure-II, respectively. Following points may be noted:
(i) Figures of Gateman in Engg & in the Traffic Dept. must be shown separately.
(ii) Supervisor P. Way to be shown with JE/ P. Way.
(iii) Some Railways have not given figures of Counsellors, which should be given henceforth.
(iv) Pointsman ‘B’ figures shall include all types of Porters in Traffic (Operating) deptt. like Station Porters, Platform Porters, etc, who perform same kind of job as a Pointsman.
The Railways/ PUs should send the information strictly as given in the enclosed Annexure-I and Annexure-II. It is reiterated that no category other than mentioned in the two Annexures should be included in the data of ‘Safety Categories’ and “Other Safety Categories”. The revised list becomes operative for the data of November, 2017 which becomes due in December, 2017.
