RBE No. 81/2008: Sports – Incentives to Referees/ Umpires

Sub: Incentives to Referees/ Umpires.

Ref:  Board’s policy letter No.E(Sports)/2007/Policy/3, dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007).

Please refer to Board’s policy letter mentioned above. Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) have decided to grant incentives to Referees/ Umpires who excel at the International level, as per the Para given below. This new para shall be inserted after Para 9.3 of the Board’s above referred policy letter dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007), and numbered as 9.3A and be read as under:-

Para No. 9.3A: Incentives to Referees/ Umpires:-

Two advance increments may be granted for each event, subject to total five increments in the entire career, to Referees/ Umpires who excel at the International level in the sports events recognized by the National Sports Federations. The increments so granted would be continued to be drawn at the same rate till retirement. The term ‘excellence’ would mean that the Umpire/ Referee has been accepted as a Referees/ Umpire by the International Federation governing the particular sports discipline and has performed the duties in International Competitions recognized by the such International Federation. However, no such incentive will be allowed to those Referees/ Umpires, who perform such duties at the National level.

These instructions will take effect from the date of issue of this letter.

This issue with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
