RBE No. 76/2008: Dental Hygienist – Recruitment

Sub: Recruitment Rules for the post of Dental Hygienist in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 in Medical Department on the railways.

1.     The issue of laying down R&P Rules for filling up the post of Dental Hygienist in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 has been under examination of this Ministry.

2.     The issue has been examined in consultation with Health and Pay-Commission Directorates of this Ministry and after detailed deliberation, it has now been decided by the Board that the vacancies in the category of Dental Hygienist (Gr.5000-8000) on the Railways may be filled up as under:-

(i)    The vacancies in the category of Dental Hygienist in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 will be filled up 100% through direct recruitment through the agency of Railway Recruitment Board.

(ii)    The qualification for direct recruitment to the post of Dental Hygienist  in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 shall be as under:-

(a)  Degree in Science (Biology) from a recognized University or equivalent;

(b)  Diploma/ Certificate course (2 years) in Dental Hygiene from an Institute recognized by Dental Council of India;

(c)  Registered with Dental Council of India as Dental Hygienist; and

(d)  Two years experience as Dental Hygienist.

NOTE: Qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes, if, at any stage of selection the competent authority is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates belonging to these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.

(iii)   Age Limit: Between 18-30 years

(iv)   Channel of Promotion/ Higher Grade: Persons inducted as Dental Hygienist be made aware at the beginning itself that they will be only given two ACPs (Assured Career Progression) during the course of their entire service.

3.     These instructions will be applicable from the date of issue of this letter.

4.     Indian Railway Establishment Manual, Volume-I (1989 Edition) may be amended as per Advance Correction Slip No.202 enclosed.

Chapter –I, Section ‘B’, Subsection-III:-

1.     Add the following as new para 167B below existing para 167A with the caption as indicated:-

(x) Dental Hygienist:-

167B.(1)The vacancies in the category of Dental Hygienist in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 will be filled up 100% through direct recruitment through the agency of Railway Recruitment Board.

(2)   (i)    The qualification for direct recruitment to the post of Dental Hygienist in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000 shall be as under:-
