RBE No.75/2006: Railway Accommodation – Retention

Sub: Retention of Railway accommodation at the previous place of posting in favour of Officers/ staff posted to new zones.

Permission to retain Railway accommodation at the previous place of posting in favour of Railway officers/ staff posted to New Zones/ Divisions was extended till 31.03.2006 in terms of Railway Board’s letter of even number dated 24.03.2005 (RBE No. 54/2005).

On representation from New Zones about acute shortage of accommodation and the need for extension of the period of retention, the matter has been reviewed by Railway Board. In exercise of the powers vested in Board as per Railway Board’s letter No.E(G)99 QR 1-16, dated 16.03.2004 (RBE No. 60/2004), the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) have decided to relax the rules/ instructions and extend the permission for retention of railway accommodation at the previous place of posting in favour of Railway Officers/ Staff posted to New Zones/ Division for a further period of one year from 01.04.2006 to 31.03.2007.

The New Zones/ Divisions should make all possible efforts to complete construction of railway accommodation for their officers and staff by 31.03.2007. E.C. Railway and N.W. Railway, who have not made  adequate progress in this direction, are directed to make special efforts for completing the construction of Railway accommodation by the above period.

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
