RBE No.69/2018: Recruitment – Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP)

Sub: Allowing staff of Technicians Category in Grade Pay Rs.1800 working in EMD, DEMU and MEMU sheds to volunteer for selection against 50% quota of ALPs.

1. The National Federation of Indian Railways (NFIR) had raised the issue regarding allowing staff of Technician Category working in EMD, DEMU & MEMU sheds to volunteer for selection against 50% quota of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs).
2. The matter has been considered by the Board in consultation with the concerned Technical Directorate and it has been decided that staff of Technicians category working in EMD, DEMU & MEMU sheds may be allowed to volunteer for selection against 50% quota of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) along with other categories as mentioned in para 137 of Indian Railway Establishment Manual (IREM), Volume-I.
3. Accordingly para 137(i) of IREM, Volume-I (Revised Edition-1989) First Re-print Edition-2009 is amended as per Advanced Correction Slip No.243 enclosed.

Chapter-I, Section-B, Sub-section-III (Recruitment & Training) Rules governing the filling up posts in Transportation (Power) Department:

1. Transportation (Power) Department:
(i) Assistant Loco Pilot, Pay Level-2
Substitute the following for the existing Para 137(I)(i):-

137(I). The post in the category of Assistant Loco Pilot, Pay Level-2 will be filled as under:

(i) 50% from amongst volunteering Diesel/ Electric Loco Fitters of Diesel/ Electric Loco Sheds with three year’s service, failing which Diesel/ Electric Loco Fitters with less than three year’s service but total service of six years. Diesel/ Electric Loco erstwhile Group ‘D’ staff of Diesel/ Electric Loco Shed and staff of Technicians categories in GP Rs.1800 working in EMD, DEMU & MEMU sheds with a total service of six years in respective sheds, having the qualification of course completed Act Apprenticeship in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronic Engineering trade or Matriculation with ITI as an additional preferable qualification with upper age limit of 35 years (40 years in case of SC/ST).
