RBE No. 46/2001: Appointment on Compassionate Grounds – Missing Railway employees

Sub: Appointment on Compassionate Grounds – Delegation of powers – Missing Railway employees.

Attention is invited to Board’s letter No.E(NG)-II/98/RC-1/64, dated 28.07.2000 (RBE No.  144/2000), in terms of which the General Managers are empowered to consider the cases upto 20 years old in the following circumstances, subject to the condition that these powers will be exercised by him personally:-

(i) Compassionate appointment of 1st son/ 1st daughter, where request has been made after a period of 5 years from the date of medical invalidation.
(ii) Compassionate appointment of other than 1st son/ 1st daughter, where request has been made after period of 5 years from the date of death.
(iii) Consideration of application submitted more than 2 years after the candidate became major.

The matter has again been examined by the Board and it has been decided that the powers delegated to General Manager, in accordance with Board’s letter No.E(NG)-II/98/RC-1/64, dated 28.07.2000 (RBE No.  144/2000), will also be applicable in cases of missing Railway employees.
This also disposes of South Central Railway’s letter No.P(SC)268/UBL/97-98/402, dated 27.10.2000.
