RBE No. 44/2008: Sports – Out-of-turn promotion

Sub: Out-of-turn promotion to sportspersons on sports account – clarification regarding.

Ref: Board’s policy letter No.E(Sports)2007/Policy/3, dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007).

Please refer to Para 9.4 and 9.5 of Board’s policy letter mentioned above regarding promotion to sportspersons on out-of-turn basis, within Group-C and from Group-D to Group-C, on sports account.

Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) have decided to delete Para 9.5.1(ii) of Board’s policy letter dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007), referred above. Therefore, from the date of issue of this letter, no promotion shall be granted to a sportsperson from Group-D to Group-C, on the basis of only representation of Indian Railways in National Championships on two occasions.

Regarding age limit for granting promotion to sportspersons on out-of-turn basis, within Group-C or from Group-D to Group-C, on sports account, it is clarified that the condition of age limit, as mentioned in Para 5 is only for recruitment of sportspersons at initial stage, through Talent Scouting and Open Advertisement. Therefore, if a sportsperson acquire the sports norms as mentioned in Para 9.4 & 9.5 of Board’s policy letter dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007), referred above; he/she will be eligible for considering his/her promotion from Group-D to Group-C or within Group-C, on out-of-turn basis, on sports account.
