RBE No.32/2006: House Rent Allowance (HRA) – On Transfer – New Zones/ Divisions

Sub: Grant of House Rent Allowance to Railway employees posted to the new Zones/ Divisions – regarding.

1. Attention is invited to the instructions contained in Board’s letter of even number dated 15.04.1999 (RBE No. 79/1999), 24.08.2001 (RBE No. 166/2001), 09.03.2004 (RBE No. 48/2004) and 09.08.2005 (RBE No. 129/2005) on the above subject permitting grant of House Rent Allowance at the rates admissible at the last place of posting in respect of Railway employees posted to new Zones/ Divisions on fulfillment of the specified conditions. The sanction contained in the above letters was valid for a period from 06.01.1997 to 31.03.2001 and from 02.09.2002 to 31.03.2006. No specific dispensation in the matter of grant of house rent allowance thus existed for the Railway employees posted to new Zones/ Divisions during the period from 01.04.2001 to 01.09.2002.
2. The matter has been considered by the Board subsequent to the issue of letter No.E(G)2005 QR1-2, dated 10.02.2006 (RBE No. 15/2006) and it has been decided that Railway employees posted to new Zones/ Divisions may be allowed house rent allowance for the period 01.04.2001 to 01.09.2002 also on the same terms and conditions laid down in the letter dated 15.04.1999 (RBE No. 79/1999), ibid, and as amended/ clarified from time to time.
3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
