RBE No. 284/1985: Voluntary Retirement – Clarification

Sub: Scheme of voluntary retirement for Railway employees.

In continuation of this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 02.08.1985 wherein certain clarifications have been embodied on the above subject, Board desire to clarify the following points also indicated as indicated below in juxtaposition.

Whether the restriction applicable under the scheme of voluntary retirement (Board’s letter of even number dated 09.11.1977) where Railway employees on deputation to Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies, etc. seeks voluntary retirement for absorption therein, is applicable to a case of Railway employee seeking voluntary retirement under Rule 2046(i)-R.II (FR 56(k) or under para 620(i) of the Manual of Railway Pension Rules, 1950 as amended from time to time.

It is clarified that there is no bar in such cases. A Railway employee while on deputation to Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies etc. is eligible to seek premature/ voluntary retirement for absorption therein, under Rule 2046(i)-R.II (FR 56(k) or under para 620(i) of the Manual of Railway Pension Rules, 1950 as amended from time to time.
