RBE No. 278/1985: Voluntary Retirement – Clarification

No.E(P&A)I-85/RT/14, dated 08.10.1985

Sub: Scheme of voluntary retirement for Railway employees.

1.     In terms of the instructions contained in Board’s letter No.E(P&A)I-77/RT/46, dated 09.11.1977, a Railway servant can seek voluntary retirement by giving 3 months’ notice subject to the fulfillment of conditions by following the procedure laid down in the above letter and amendments/ clarifications issued from time to time.

2.     It has now been decided that a railway servant, including a Scientist or a Technical Expert who is:-

(i)    On assignment under the Indian Technical & Economic Co-operation (ITEC) program of the Ministry of External Affairs & other aid programmer;

(ii)    Posted abroad in foreign based offices of the Ministries/ Departments;

(iii)   On a specific contract assignment to a Foreign Government;

shall not be eligible to seek voluntary retirement under the scheme of voluntary retirement unless, after having been transferred to India, he has assumed charge of a post in India and served for a period of not less than one year.

3.     This has the sanction of the President.

    I want to take voluntary retirement. I have joined on 15.12.1993. Now I am working as a Reservation Supervisor-II and working at Eastern Railway.
    I have applied for Voluntary Retirement, but regretted by the administration causing acute shortage of staff.
    Now what can I do?
