RBE No. 15/2008: Question Banks – Promotion from Group ‘D’ to Group ‘C’

Sub:     Written examinations conducted for promotion from Group ‘D’ to Group ‘C’ – Preparation of Question Banks.   

1. The Committee on Career Advancement Planning for Group ‘D’ staff on Railways (Ansari Committee) in its report vide Recommendation No.39 has made the following recommendation:- 

“39. Wherever written tests are prescribed for the present, the same should continue. Elaborate syllabi, as well as model question papers may be framed for the guidance of candidates as well as examiners.” 

2.     The Ministry of Railways have considered the above recommendation and accepted the same. The Railways are also aware that instructions vide this Ministry’s letter No.E(NG)I-2006/PM1/34, dated 06.11.2006 (RBE No. 168/2006), already exist that for written examinations conducted for promotion to and within Group ‘C’,  question banks should be prepared and circulated to the staff and that the same should be updated regularly in accordance with changing technology and job requirement. Accordingly, if not already done, question banks should be prepared immediately as per syllabus prescribed and circulated amongst the staff.
