RBE No. 09/2006: Promotion – To Group ‘B’ – Selection and LDCE

Sub: Selection for promotion from Group ‘C’ to Group ‘B’ posts in Mechanical Engineering Department and Transportation (Traffic and Commercial) Department.

1. In terms of instructions issued under Railway Board’s letter No.E(GP)79/2/130, dated 19.08.1981 and letter No.E(GP)82/2/120, dated 25.01.1983, Selections (70% selection and 30% LDCE) for promotion to Group ‘B’ posts in Mechanical Engineering Department and Transportation (Traffic and Commercial) Department respectively, are being done separately for each stream.
2. The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided by the Board that combined Selections (70% selection and 30% LDCE) may be held for filling up Group ‘B’ vacancies in the different streams of Mechanical Engineering Department and Transportation (Traffic and Commercial) Department.
3. In conducting selections as per revised instructions, while it would be necessary to test the knowledge of the candidates on topics relating to all other all the streams through compulsory questions, ample choice shall be given to the candidates with questions from the topics relating to each stream.
4. Group ‘B’ Selections (70% selection and 30% LDCE), which have already been initiated may continue and un-disturbed and the combined selection may be introduced from the next selection onwards.
