Railway Week: RBE No.163/2000 – Powers to Incur Expenditure

Sub: Railway Week Celebrations.
Ref: Board’s letter of even number, dated 23rd March, 2000.
1. Board for some time past had under considerationa proposal for permitting Railways to incur expenditure on Railway Week Celebrations as per powers vested in General Managers for expenditure during ceremonial occasions in lieu of existing practice of sanctioning token sums every year.
2. It has now been decided that the powers regarding expenditure in connection with Railway Week Celebrations may be exercised by General Managers in terms of para 29(a) of Board’s letter No.F(X)II/97/PW/4, dated 16.09.1997 as amended from time to time. In case of Railway Staff College, IRISET, IRICEN, IRIMEE and IRIEEN, Director General/ Directors of these institutions will exercise these powers. Secretary/Railway Board is also authorised to incur expenditure for this purpose within the ceiling mentioned in para 29(a) of GM’s powers.
3. All other instructions in the matter as advised vide Board’s letter under reference should be followed during the Railway Week Celebrations, which will be observed for 10th to 16th April every year.
