Sub: Grant of family pension and gratuity to the eligible member of the family of an employee/ pensioner/ family pensioner reported missing – reg.

1. Please refer to Board’s letter No.F(E)III/2009/PN1/7, dated 15.07.2013 (RBE No. 68/2013) on the above subject.
2. Some of the Zonal Railways have raised the issue, whether additional benefits like family pension/ death gratuity is also admissible to family members of missing employees covered under NPS or otherwise. The matter has been examined in consultation with the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DOP&PW), the nodal Department of Government on pensionay matters DOP&PW has clarified that the framing of separate service rules for regulating the pensionary benefits to the NPS employees is in process and the question of extension of pensionary benefits to the families of missing NPS employees will be considered based on the NPS rules being finalized.
