Drawing Office Cadre: RBE No.63/1986 – DR of Junior Draftsman in Scale Rs.330-560

Sub: Drawing office cadre – Direct recruitment of Junior Draftsman in Scale Rs.330-560 (RS) in various technical departments on Railways.

1.     In this Department’s letter No.PC-III/84/UPG/19, dated 25.06.1985 vide Item (VI) of Annexure-I attached thereto and ‘Note’ below this item, it has been inter-alia indicated that:-

(i)    once the entire cadre of Tracers has been fully accommodated in the higher grade of Junior Draftsman in scale Rs.330-560 further vacancies in that grade in all the departments of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and S and Twill be filled cent per cent by direct recruitment of Diploma Holders in Draftsmenship; and

(ii)    the existing cadre of Tracers is to be frozen and actual requirements reviewed and determined with Board’s approval within six months.

2.     Instructions regarding freezing of the cadre of Tracers have already been issued vide this Department’s letter No.E(NG)II/85/RC-2/7, dated 27.02.1985 (RBE No.60/1985) and 18.04.1985 (RBE No.113/1985).

3.     It has now been further decided as under:

(i)    The qualifications and period of training for directly recruited Assistant Draftsmen in scale Rs.330-560 will be as under:

Qualifications: Minimum III certificate in draftsmenship (National Trade Certificate by Government of India NCVT) in the respective disciplines from recognised institutes or equivalent, the course being of two years duration. Engineering diploma holders in respective discipline and holders of diploma in draftsmenship from recognised institutes will also be eligible.

Period of training: One Year.

Stipend: As per extant instructions.

(ii)    The direct recruitment of Assistant Draftsmen in all the above Departments will be done through the respective Railway Recruitment Boards.

(iii)   The actual requirement of Tracers in the existing cadre may be determined by each Zonal Railway, Production Unit etc. in consultation with their FA and CAO instead of with the approval of the Board as indicated in the orders of restructuring. The Board, however, expect that this review will be done critically so that only the posts essentially required are retained and that significant reduction in the requirements of Tracers will be achieved. Necessary review may accordingly be undertaken and completed within six months of issue of this letter.
