Deputation: RBE No.02/1987 – Deputation (Duty) Allowance

Sub:   Recommendation of the Fourth Pay Commission – Decisions relating to grant of Deputation (Duty) Allowances.

1. The recommendations of the Fourth Central Pay Commission as contained in paragraph 24.5 of Chapter 24 of the Report, relating to grant of Deputation (Duty) Allowance to Central Government employees have been considered by the Government. At present the rates of Deputation Allowance to Railway servants are regulated under paras 4.1 and 4.4 of Ministry of Finance O.M. No.F.1(11)-EIII(B)/75, dated 07.11.1975 circulated under this Ministry’s letter No.F(E)II-70/FS/1, dated 17.01.1976.

In supersession of para 4.1 of Ministry of Finance O.M. of 07.11.1975, the President is now pleased to decide that the rates of Deputation (Duty) Allowance shall be as under:

(a)   5% of basic pay subject to a ceiling of Rs.250 for transfer within the same station; and

(b)   10% of basic pay subject to a ceiling of Rs.500 in other cases.

2.     The President is also pleased to decide that the restrictions under Rule 2029 (FR-35) R-II and paragraph 4.4 of the Ministry of Finance O.M. referred to above will now be as under:

(a)For employees in receipt of basic pay above Rs.220012-1/2% of basic pay or Rs.330 whichever is more
(b)For employees in receipt of basic pay above Rs.1000 upto Rs.220015% of basic pay or Rs.200 whichever is more
(c)For employees in receipt of basic pay of and below Rs.100020% of basic pay

3.     The new rates will be applicable with effect from the date an employee draws pay in the revised scale of pay applicable in accordance with the Railway Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 1986.

4.     Other conditions as laid down in this Ministry’s letter under reference, would however, continue to apply.
