Casual Labour: RBE No.03/1988 – Medical Examination
No.E(NG)II/87/CL/89, dated 04.01.1988
Sub: Medical Examination of Casual Labour.
1. Attention is invited to this Ministry’s followings letters:
(1) No.E(NG)II/71/CL/84, dt. 13.12.1972, 10.05.1973 and 01.08.1973
(2) No.E(NG)II/80/CL/29, dt. 28.02.1983 and 29.08.1983.
2. Board desire that casual labour on Railways should be subjected to a medical examination for the category in which they are likely to be absorbed in regular employment in due course (subject to instructions in force from time to time for absorption of casual labour in regular employment). This medical examination should be done, as early as possible, preferably before they are given temporary status, whenever they become eligible for the same in terms of extent orders. It appears that such a practice is already in vogue on some of the Railways.
