Passes: RBE No.98/1985 – Railway Officers Appointed after 01.08.1969
No.E(W)84 PS5-1/21, dated 08.04.1985
Sub: Restoration of First Class ‘A’Privilege Passes/ PTOs to post 01.08.1969 Railway Officers.
1. In terms of Ministry of Railways letter No.E(Trg)169 PS5-1/14, dated 22.07.1969 Gazetted Officers including those holding honorary rank of Gazetted Officers who are appointed to Gazette Railway Services (Class I & II) on or after 01.08.1969 including those promoted from lower grade or admitted to honorary rank of gazetted officer on or after that date are eligible for First Class Passes and PTOs and not First Class ‘A’. Other gazetted officers (Class I and II) appointed to Railway services before 01.08.1969 are however, eligible for First Class ‘A’ Passes/PTOs. Ministry of Railways have had under consideration for quite some time past the question of removing this disparity in entitlement of passes to the two sets of officers i.e. those appointed to gazetted railway services on or after 01.08.1969 and those appointed to gazetted railway services before 01.08.1969.After careful consideration of the matter, Ministry of Railways have since decided that all gazetted officers of the Railways irrespective of their dates of entry into gazetted cadre including those holding honorary rank of gazetted officer would hereafter been titled to First Class ‘A’ Passes/ PTOs. The above orders will come into effect from the date of issue of this letter.
2. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
