RBE No. 178/2006: Passes – Income Ceiling for Dependents

Sub: Grant of Privilege Passes/PTOs to dependent relatives – Raising the income ceiling.
1. Reference is invited to Board’s letter of even number dated 05.06.2006 (RBE No. 71/2006) on the above mentioned subject, whereby the income ceiling for dependency was revised w.e.f. 01.01.2006 as Rs.2790 p.m. i.e. Rs.1500 (pension/ family pension) plus Rs.750 (DP) + 24% of Rs.2250 (1500+750) or 15% of the pay of Railway servant, whichever is more.
2 Consequent upon increase in Dearness Relief to pensioners/ family pensioners, w.e.f. 01.07.2006 in terms of Board’s Circular No.PC-V/97/I/9/6, dated 28.09.2006 (RBE No. 143/2006) a dependent relative in relation to a Railway servant as described in Railway Servants (Pass) Rules, 1986, shall be deemed to be wholly dependent on the Railway servant only if his/her income w.e.f. 01.07.2006 including pension, dearness pay and dearness relief in terms of Board’s letter No.PC-V/97/I/9/6, dated 28.09.2006 (RBE No. 143/2006) does not exceed Rs.2903 p.m. i.e. Rs.1500 (pension/family pension) plus Rs.750 (DP) + 29% of Rs.2250 (1500+750) or 15% of the pay of Railway servant, whichever is more.
