RBE No. 80/2019: Promotion – Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) – Chemical and Metallurgical Superintendent (CMS) – IREM – ACS No.264

Sub: Filling up the posts of Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) and Chemical and Metallurgical Superintendent (CMS) – reg.

1. Attention is invited to instructions contained in Railway Board’s letter of even number dated 16.02.2018 (RBE No. 24/2018) read with the letter of the same number dated 24.04.2018 (RBE No. 60/2018) on the above subject, through which provisions of Para 168 of IREM Vol-I, 2009 Reprint Edition, were amended vide ACS No.240.
2. The educational qualification prescribed for 33% LDCE quota for promotion from CMA in Level-6 to CMS in Level-7 as contained in Para-168(4)(ii) of IREM Vol-I ibid has been reviewed by the Board and it has been decided that serving CMAs with B. Tech in Metallurgical/ Chemical Engineering or an M.Sc. degree in Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry will continue to be eligible for the LDCE quota for the post of CMS, along with the employees possessing the qualification as mentioned in the said Para.
Para 168(4)(ii) of IREM Vol-I, 2009 Reprint Edition accordingly stands amended as per ACS No.264 enclosed herewith.

Substitute the following for the existing Para 168(4)(ii)
50% by promotion of CMA in Level-6, out of which 33% will be filled through LDCE from serving employees having the following educational qualifications:

(i) Bachelor Degree in Science with Physics and Chemistry with minimum of 45% marks
Or
(ii) B. Tech. in Metallurgical/ Chemical Engineering or an M.Sc. degree in Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry. The remaining 17% will be filled from the serving employees in the grade of CMA on the basis of seniority cum suitability authority.
