RBE No. 64/2006: Recruitment – Dietitian – Educational Qualification – IREM – ACS No.184

Sub: Educational qualification for recruitment in the category of Dietitian (Gr. Rs.5500-9000).

1. Attention is invited to this office letter No.E(NG)-II/2004/RR-1/22, dated 17.06.2004 (RBE No.129/2004) laying down recruitment rules for filling up the post of Dietician in scale Rs.5500-9000.
2. In view of the difficulty expressed by one of the Zonal Railway in finding candidates, the prescribed qualification laid down vide letter, ibid, has been reviewed in consultation with the Health Directorate of this Ministry and it has been decided that in addition to what has been laid down vide letter, ibid, candidates in possession with the under-mentioned qualifications may also be considered for filling up the post of Dietician of Indian Railways:-
Essential: B.Sc. (Home Science) + M.Sc./ Home Science (Food & Nutrition) from a recognized institution.
3. The Indian Railways Establishment Manual, Volume-I (1989 – Edition) may be amended as per the following Advance Correction Slip No.184.
(This disposes of Northern Railway’s letter No.220-E/Indents/Med/RRB/Rectt. (23), dated 30.08.2005.

Chapter-I, Section-B, Sub-section-III, Recruitment and Training.

Para 166(2) of the IREM, Vol-I (1989-Edition) introduced vide ACS No.184 may be substituted as under:

‘(2) The qualification for direct recruitment to the post of Dietician shall be as under:-
(i) Essential: B.Sc. (Science Graduate) with Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics (One Year Course) from a recognized institution plus three months’ Internship Training in a Hospital.
                                                                                                OR
B.Sc. (Home Science) + M.Sc./Home Science (Food and Nutrition) from a recognized institution.
(ii) Age limit: between 18 – 30 years.
