RBE No. 171/1985: Railway Quarters – eviction proceedings

Sub: Initiation of eviction proceedings for vacation of Railway quarters.

1. It has been brought to the notice of Ministry of Railways that the eviction proceedings for getting the railway quarters vacated from the retired Railway servants and family members/ legal heirs of the deceased employees are initiated by Railway Administration, etc. much after the expiry of period of validity of sanction accorded by the competent authority for retention of railway quarters by them and consequently the act of their eviction therefrom and final payment of the settlement dues is delayed.
2. The ministry of Railways wish to emphasize that the eviction proceedings for getting railway quarters vacated from the retired Railway servants and family members/ legal heirs of the deceased employees should be initiated by the Railway Administration immediately after the permitted period is over so that no avoidable delay takes place in the matter of their eviction from railway quarters and the final payment of the settlement dues.
