1695. Traveling Allowance To Non-railway Defence Witness:-

When a person not in the service of the Union is summoned as a witness on behalf of a railway servant whose conduct is the subject of a departmental inquiry, traveling allowance may be paid to such a person, provided that the railway servant concerned clears himself, and the evidence given by the witness is considered to be of material value by the Officer conducting the inquiry. The rate of traveling allowance shall be as determined by the Railway Board in each case, with due regard to the person’s position in life.
