Sub: Recruitment of sportspersons on Indian Railways against sports quota

Ref: Board’s policy letter No.E(Sports)/2007/Policy/3, dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007).

The proposals of Zonal Railways for inclusion of Commonwealth Championships and Asian Championships in the norms for recruitment in Group-C against sports quota have been considered by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board). Board have decided to include the medal winning performance in both championships in the norms for recruitment on Railways against sports quota in Group-C.

Therefore, in the Board’s policy letter dated 30.03.2007 (RBE No. 48/2007) referred above, a new para shall be inserted after para 4.1(iv) and numbered as 4.1(v) and be read as under:-

“Represented the country in the international championships as mentioned in Category-C (except USIC Championships) under Para 3 and obtained at least 3rd Position”.

Accordingly, Para 9.5.1(iii) shall also be revised and henceforth be read as under:-

“Gold Medal winning performance in USIC Championships (Category-C)”.

[Clarification: For promotion from Group-D to Group-C on out-of-turn basis on sports account, medal winning performance in Commonwealth & Asian Championships will be covered under Para 9.5.1(i)]

These instructions will take effect from the date of issue of this letter.

This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
