RBE No.82/2019: Recruitment – Educational Qualification – TGT/PGT – Physical Education

Sub: Educational qualification for recruitment of TGT/PGT – Physical Education.
Ref: Railway Board’s letter of even number dated 22.02.2016 (RBE No.21/2016) & 30.04.2018 (RBE No.50/2018).
1. The minimum qualifications for recruitment/ promotion of Post Graduate Teachers working in Railway Schools have been laid down in Board’s above referred letters. However, the issue of laying down the minimum educational qualifications for recruitment/ promotion of TGT/PGT (Physical Education) at par with those laid down by the Govt. of NCT and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was under consideration in Board’s office.
2. It has now been decided that henceforth the essential minimum educational qualifications for recruitment/ promotion of TGTs/PGTs (Physical Education) in Railway Schools will be as under:

Graduate with Bachelors in Physical Education (B.P. Ed) or its equivalent. Note: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Competent Authority, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified. |

PGT (Physical Education) |
Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P. Ed) or Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education and Degree in Sports with at least 55% marks as per National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2009. Or At least 50% Marks in the B.P. Ed. Degree/ B.P. Ed. (Integrated) four years Professional Degree in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2007 notified on 10th December, 2007. Or B.P. Ed. with at least 55% marks or B.P.E. Course (or its equivalent) of three years duration with at least 50% marks in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Form of application for Recognition, the Time Limit of Submission of Application, Determination of Norms and Standards for Recognition of Teacher Education Programmes and Permission to Start New Course or Training Regulation, 2002 Notified on 13th November, 2002 And M.P. Ed. of at least two year duration from any National Council for Teacher Education Recognized Institution. Note: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Competent Authority, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. |
3. The above order will take effect from the date of issue of this later. However, the teacher of Physical Education appointed prior to the date of issue of this letter would be governed by earlier applicable qualifications for further promotion.
