RBE No. 78/2008: Assistant Pharmacy Officer – Selection

Sub: Selection for promotion to Group ‘B’ post of Assistant Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Health Education Officer, Assistant Health Officer and Assistant Physiotherapy Officer in Medical Department.
1. Based on the recommendations of the Fifth Central Pay Commission, Group ‘B’ posts of Assistant Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Health Education Officer, Assistant Health Officer and Assistant Physiotherapy Officer, in scale Rs.7500-12000 were sanctioned in terms of Board’s letters No.PC-V/98/I/11/18(A), dated 10.05.1998 (RBE No. 100/1998) and PC-V/97/I/11/12, dated 08.04.1999 (RBE No. 71/1999).
However, as Recruitment Rules for these posts were yet to be notified in consultation with UPSC, instructions were issued under Board’s letter No.E(GP)99/2/69, dated 30.11.1999, to fill these posts on ad-hoc basis through normal process of selection including written test and viva-voce (including assessment of record of service), from amongst the eligible Group ‘C’ staff.
2. Recruitment Rules for the post of Assistant Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Health Education Officer and Assistant Health Officer have been notified vide Ministry of Railways Notification No.99/E(GRR)1/2, dated 20.11.2007, and Recruitment Rules for the post of Assistant Physiotherapy Officer have been notified vide Ministry of Railways Notification No.99/E(GRR)]/1/2, dated 03.04.2008. In view of these Recruitment Rules, the matter regarding regularization of Group ‘B’ service of employees promoted on ad-hoc basis after due selection, held in accordance with Board’s letter No.E(GP)/99/2/69, dated 30.11.1999, has been considered by the Board. It has been decided that the ad-hoc promotion of Group ‘C’ staff to Group ‘B’ post of Assistant Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Health Education Officer, Assistant Health Officer and Assistant Physiotherapy Officer, after due selection in terms of Board’s letter No.E(GP)/99/2/69, dated 30.11.1999, may be regularized from the date from which they were promoted on ad-hoc basis.
