RBE No. 41/2008: Dearness Allowance – Revised Rates from 01.01.2008

Sub: Payment of Dearness Allowance to Railway employees – Revised rates effective from 1.1.2008

1. Reference to this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 13.09.2007 (RBE No.115/2007) on the subject mentioned above. The President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable to Railway employees with effect from 1^st January, 2008 shall stand modified as follows:-

01.01.2008	47% of pay

2.     The provisions contained in Paras 3 and 4 of this Ministry’s letter No.PC-V/97/I/7/14, dated 16.10.1997 (RBE No.139/1997) shall continue to be applicable, while regulating Dearness Allowance under these orders.

3.     The additional installment of Dearness Allowance payable under these orders shall be paid in cash to all Railway employees. The payment of arrears for the months of January and February, 2008 shall not be made before the date of disbursement of salary of March, 2008 and no honorarium is payable for preparing separate bill for this purpose.

4.     The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fraction of 50 paise or above may be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the fractions of less than 50 paise may be ignored.

5.     This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
