No.E(GP)2003/2/22, dated 13.03.2008

Sub: Up-gradation of 80% of Group ‘B’ posts of all major departments – Procedure for allotment of the higher scale.

1.     Attention is invited to Board’s letter No.E(GP)98/2/82, dated 09.12.1998 (RBE No. 278/1998) and Board’s letter of even number dated 16.06.2003 (RBE No. 93/2003), wherein the procedure for allotment of the higher Group ‘B’ scale of Rs.8000-13500 in Accounts department and other major departments respectively was advised. In terms of these instructions, Group ‘B’ officers with a minimum of three years regular service in scale Rs.7500-12000 are eligible to be considered for placement in the higher scale of Rs.8000-13500.

2.     The question of eligibility of a senior employee who has not completed 3 years regular service in scale Rs.7500-12000 with his junior having already completed 3 years and being considered for placement in the higher scale has been examined by the Board. It has been decided by the Board that for consideration of officers for placement in the higher Group ‘B’ scale of Rs.8000-13500, the senior Group ‘B’ officer should be deemed to have rendered the service put in by his immediate junior, and if that happens to be 3 years or more, he should be considered for placement in the higher Group ‘B’ scale of Rs.8000-13500.

3.     This decision takes effect from the date of issue of the instructions.
