RBE No. 30/2009: Uniform – To Gangmen etc.

Sub: Issue of uniform and other accessories to Gangmen (Trackmen), Keymen, Mates, Patrolmen, Gatemen and Trollymen – Supply of Luminescent vests (safety jacket) – Specification regarding.
1. Reference Board’s letters No.E(W)95 UN1-19, dated 28.08.2003 (RBE No. 148/2003) and 27.12.2005 (RBE No. 219/2005) on the above mentioned subject. The question regarding framing of Indian Standard for Luminescent Jackets by the Bureau of Indian Standards have been pursued by this Ministry for quite some time as the same were not available.
2. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) have accordingly published IS 15809:2008 Indian Standard on “High Visibility Warning Clothes” and therefore the Luminescent vests (Safety Jackets) being procured by the Railways should now conform to this standard.
3. This issues in consultation with the Finance, Civil Engg. and Stores Directorates of the Ministry of Railways.
