RBE No. 30/1996: Dearness Allowance – Revised Rates Effective From 01.01.1996

Sub: Payment of Dearness Allowance to Railway employees – Revised rates effective from 01.01.1996.

1. Reference this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 22.09.1995 (RBE No. 108/1995) on the subject sited above. The President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable to Railway Employees with effect from 1st January, 1986 shall stand modified as follows:-

Basic Pay up to Rs.3500 per month

148% of pay

 

Basic Pay above Rs.3500 per month and up to Rs.6000 per month

111% of pay subject to a minimum of Rs.5180 per month

Basic Pay above Rs.6000 per month

96% of pay subject to a minimum of Rs.6660 per month

The provisions contained in para 2 and 4 of this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 25.11.1986 relating to Group ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees and para 3 of letter of even number dated 27.03.1987 relating to Group ‘A’ employees shall continue to be applicable while regulating Dearness Allowance under these Orders.
3. The additional installment of Dearness Allowance payable under these orders shall be paid in Cash to all Railway employees.
4. The payment of arrears of Dearness Allowance for the month of January and February, 1996 shall not be made before the disbursement of salary for March, 1996.
5. The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fraction of 50 paise and above may be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paise may be ignored.
