RBE No. 27/2019: Promotion – X-Ray Attendant to Radiographer

Sub: Promotion of X-Ray Attendant and other staff to the post of Radiographer (L-5) GP Rs.2800.

1. Pursuant to the recommendations of Atomic Energy Regulation Board (AERB), the minimum educational qualification to fill up the post of Radiographer in PB-1 Rs.5200-20200 GP Rs.2800 (L-5) against 50% promotion quota from amongst serving Railway employees was revised from matriculation with Physics and Chemistry & possessing Diploma in X-Ray Technician’s Course from a recognized Institute to 10+2 or equivalent examination passed with Science subject from a recognized Board and Radiographers/ X-Ray Technologist course of minimum one year duration (including in field training in Diagnostic Radiology) vide Board’s letter No.E(NG)I-2003/PM10/4, dated 02.12.2011 (RBE No. 161/2011).
2. NFIR, in its agenda Item No.51/2016 have raised a demand in the PNM Meeting that possibility may be exposed to impart training to existing staff who do not possess the requisite qualifications presently for further promotion, to make them eligible for consideration for such further promotion subject to fulfillment of all other eligibility conditions.
3. The matter has accordingly been considered in consultation with the Health and Finance Directorates of Railway Board. It has been decided that X-Ray Attendants recruited with pre-revised qualification may be encouraged/ granted study leave to acquire the requisite qualification from a recognized institution either through distance learning or by joining a course of study on a regular basis. On acquiring of such qualification they will be eligible for consideration for promotion as per their turn, otherwise eligible. The Zonal Railways accordingly may consider request of employees in question favorably for grant of study leave as per the extant rules.
