RBE No. 236/1986: Retention of railway quarters – On posting to NF Railway

Sub: Retention of railway quarters at the old station of posting by railway employees posted to NF Railway.

1. Please refer to the instructions contained in Board’s letter of even number dated 21.07.1984 on the subject noted above. A question has now been raised if the railway servants who retain Railway accommodation allotted to them at the old stations of their posting, on payment of normal rent for the first two months and thereafter at 1-1/2 times of the assessed rent or 15% of the emoluments drawn on the date of their transfer to NF Railway, whichever be less, for the entire period of their posting on the NF Railway, can be permitted to retain that accommodation for the permissible period applicable to cases of transfers from one Railway to another Railway etc. when they are transferred from the NF Railway to another Railway/ organization.
2. The matter has been carefully considered and it is clarified that in such cases the normal instructions as applicable to cases of transfer from one Railway to another Railway organization would be applicable; notionally treating the accommodation at the last station prior to their posting on NF Railway, as if the accommodation belonged to the NF Railway.
3. This has the sanction of the President and issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
